-Revolt broke out in 1519 and much more of a social revolt than political.
-Germania was a Christian brotherhood of armed volunteers from the poorer classes

-held resentment against local Muslims and the power the nobles had against them

-support was widespread due to charles postponing the Cortes of Valencia

• first actions were murdering Muslim peasants and forcibly baptising them into the Christian faith

-Germania took over Valencia and small nobility attacks were crushed

-However support was lost when a new leader Vicent peris took over and suggested his followers should be more violent and racist

-deterred middle class members

-Valencia was then retaken by the crown and army troops finished germania by 1521
