Radio NetUsage
- On occasion you will be required to speak to different agencies on the same radio
- It is important that respective agencies are aware when you will be on/off their net and for how long so pertinent communications are not missed
Beadwindow
- In the event that inappropriate information is transmitted over the net, and given that it will not further compromise security, a monitoring station will transmit BEADWINDOW to alert the transmitting party
- The only response to BEADWINDOW is “Roger, Out”
ON OFF task checks
Designed to bring the focus of the crew on to the upcoming tactical portion of the mission or back into the enroute transit phase once the mission is complete

FOB Reports
- to provide positional info and obtain any relevant mission traffic
- TACNAV makes the call
- Key items:
- Radio check with FOB
- A/C Px, Altitude, Direction of flight
- Request for / passage of applicable message traffic
- Keep them informed of anything different from tasking message such as timing changes. “ONTASK as fragged + 10”

NOCL Notice of Crash Location
A – Affirmative – positive item sighted is search object
Or
Negative – unable to positively determine if object was sighted
B – 5040 9515 – Eight or nine digit group showing Px. (NSEW left out, leading zero on longitude left out)
C – Negative – survivors or casualties not seen
Or
Number – of casualties actually seen
Followed by:
Undetermined – status unknown
Red- immediate treatment and evac – priority 1
Yellow – early treat and evac – priority 2
Green – routine treat and evac – priority 3
Blue – deferred treat and evac – priority 4
White- uninjured
Grey - missing
Black – dead
D – One North – side of hill and indicate slope
Two North – in valley and indicate side of valley floor
Three – in level country
Four – Heavily wooded area (can be paired w/ 1,2,3)
Five – In Water A- near shore B- well off shore
E – One – Request auth to deploy SAR Techs
Two – Helicopter is required
Three – Ground party could reach location in good time
Four- Rescue boat is required
Five – Coroner is required
F – Remarks : Briefly provide details which allow RCC to initiate appropriate action
Ex. A. Affirmative B. 5010 10150 C. Five red, one blue D. Three Four E. One F. Remarks: info obtained by radio contact
Aircraft Swap
- MUST include all relevant on scene info to allow incoming asset to assume tasking
- MUST allow for safe departure and arrival of both assets
- It is operator to operator traffic so less formal than standard HF comms
- Simulated on CHZ for flights
- TACNAV makes calls
Inbound AC calls Outbound AC
- Px (310T from ONTASK at 20 nm)
- Altitude
- QNH
- Heading
- Intentions: plans for entering area
Outbound Replies
- Px (use relative Px for ease of transmission)
- Altitude
- QNH (has to be same as inbound for flight safety)
- Heading
- Intentions: Plan for departing area and de-confliction plan
Outbound Passes:
- SITREP
- Other sig traffic (weather or info not passed in SITREP or NOCL)
Inbound Replies
- Ack traffic
- Pass intentions again
- Declares SWAP complete
- States “Execute SWAP at Time____Z”
Other routine comms
AWACS
Should be completed before ONTASK checks
“Magic de Gonz04 checking in as fragged”
“Gonz04 de Magic, you are radar identified, continue as fragged, call ONTASK”
Px Reports
Every 30 mins starting from OPEN WATCH, the first being ONTASK message, METREP, SITREP, OFFTASK….etc
