Combustion Flashcards
What is premixed (heterogeneous) combustion?
is a separate class of unsteady
combustion. It is assumed that fuel and air are perfectly mixed before combustion
process is initiated. Such combustion is found in gasoline (Otto) engines
What is Heterogeneous combustion
in its way, is characterized by a presence of a fuel
spray or fuel jet. In this situation the fuel is injected into air where it is ignited and
burned. Example of such combustion can be found in diesel engines
What chemical compounds is determined by fuel and air.
water, carbon, oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur oxides
What chemical compounds from combustion
CO, HC, NOx, PM
What is the energy needed for chemical energy releas to occur (change of entalpy) called
Activation energy
Solve one stoiciometric task
What is air-excess ratio
air-fuel ratio actual divided by air-fuel ratio stoiciometric
What is fuel-air ratio?
1 divided by air excess ratio
What happens is lambda =1?
There is no access oxygen available in the combustion
