Colour Perception 2 Flashcards
What are the 2 colour theories?
Trichromatic Theory and Opponent process theory
trichromatic theory what are the primary colours?
Red, Blue, and green
Opponent process theory what are the primary colours?
Red, blue, green, and yellow
What is a monochromat?
No colour vision. Either a rod monochromat (no cones) or a cone monochromat (only 1 type of cone)
What is a dichromat?
Missing one type of cone. (L,M,S)
What is colour constancy?
The perception of an objects colour remains relatively constant, in spite of changing illumination
Luminance=
Illuminance (illumination of an object) X Reflectance (percentage of light reflected by an object)
The ratio Principle
Provides a degree of constancy in 2D scenes
Mechanism of colour constancy
Chromatic adaption
spectral composition of light entering the eye after being reflected from surface=
spectral composition of the illuminant X Reflectance of the surface
