Symptoms

sudden onset of mild to severe pain in the intergluteal region
while sitting or performing activities that stretch the skin overlying the natal cleft
(e.g., bending, sit-ups).

intermittent swelling as well as mucoid, purulent, and/or bloody drainage in the area.
