why did Stalin feel that he could expand the soviet union by taking over certain countries?
Because in 1944 and 45 the Soviet Red Army freed many countries in Eastern Europe from Nazi control. when the war was over he was reluctant to give up those countries.
what did he do to control the countries?
he turned them into satellite states with communist governments with little independence from the soviet union
how did Truman see the expansion
he saw it as Stalin trying to spread communism, as a result the relations became worse as the soviet union communism threat increased.

Benes and other non-communists were removed from power and a pro-communist governments was set up.
How did Stalin take over Poland?
1944 Warsaw uprising against the German occupation, stalin promised to help but instead he ordered the red army to wait until the uprising was over. He then invaded and put in a pro-communist government. After 1947 the London Poles were forced to flee or face imprisonment.
How were Yugoslavia and Albania different to other satellite states?
they were considered a part of the soviet union but they never occupied by the Red Army so they had more independence than the other satellites.
