Q

Patriotism police during Iraq war

A

-After 9/11 and Afghanistan Invasion: great patriotism and support for war-president Bush.
-conservative media outlets created an atmosphere of pressure specially Fox News.

Dualism
All journalists who don’t report in the wished manner got blamed and shamed:
good americans vs. bad americans; Patriotist vs. USA haters

Consequences
-Very disbalanced ratio of pro and anti-war opinions
-CNN reported often about civil victims in Afghanistan -> FOX News blamed CNN as too liberal, important advertisers and audience also put pressure on them.
As a consequence CNN rebalanced their reports and linked it more often to 9/11.
