Explain the report everything part in the Cognitive Interview
Witnesses were encouraged to included EVERY detail even if they think it’s irrelevant.Seemingly trivial details may be important and trigger more important memories
Explain the second stage, Reinstate Order, of the Cognitive Interview
Witnesses return to the original crime scene ‘figuratively’ and imagine the environment and their emotions. This is also related to context-dependent forgetting (External)
Explain the third stage, Reverse order
Evens should be recalled in a different order from the original sequence, for example, from the last point back to the beginning, or from the middle to the beginning. This is to prevent people reporting their expectations of how the event happened. , rather than the actual events. It also prevents dishonesty
