Q

ellis abc model

A

A = activating event
- depression = irrational thoughts
- depression occurs when we experience negative events
B = beliefs
- negative events trigger irrational beliefs, for example:
● ‘I-can’t-stand-it’ is the belief that it is a disaster when things do not go smoothly
C = consequences
When an activating event triggers irrational beliefs there are emotional and behavioural consequences e.g depressed
