Sensorimotor Stage
(birth to nearly two years) experiencing the world through senses and actions
Object Permanence
when an object is out of sight it is out of mind; at 13-15 months kids will know object still exists
Preoperational Stage
(about 2 to about 6 or 7 years) representing things with words and actions; using intuitive rather than logical reasoning
Conservation
learn to know that the quantity is the same despite the container, shape, or apparent size
Reversibility
learn things can be reversed back to same shape
Animism
where inanimate objects have feelings, thoughts, and emotions
Egocentrism
self-centered
Theory of Mind
become less self centered and find out other people have different opinions and feelings
Concrete Operational Stage
(about 7-11 years) start of thought process; grasping concrete analogies and preforming arithmetical operations
