Coastal Geomorphological Processes Flashcards
What are the types of geomorphological processes?
Mass movement Weathering Aeolian processes Marine processes Sub-aerial processes
What are marine processes?
These are processes that act upon a coastline and are connected with the sea, such as waves, tides and long shore drift.
What are Aeolian processes?
These involve the entrainment, transport and deposition of sediment by wind.
What are sub-aerial processes?
These include processes that slowly break down the coastline , weaken underlying rocks and allow sudden movements or erosion to happen more easily.
Material is broken down in situ, remaining in or near its original position.
This may affect the shape of the coastline.
What do sub-aerial processes include?
They include weathering, mass movement and run off.
