What phrase protects select information in a record requested under FOIA?

Can a veteran’s school standing or grades be released in regards to a FOIA request?
NO. Education history can be released, however.
What can be accessed by clicking the CMRS header in the CMRS application?
The CRG.
What is it called when you release the wrong information to the wrong individual?
Erroneous Disclosure.
Does a routine user require the veteran’s consent to access their record?
No.
If you are curious about a friend or relative’s history in the military, can you look up their record?
Absolutely not. We are in a need to know basis for all military records. Only access an individual’s record upon request in your professional capacity.
What should you do if a requester wants information that is protected under the Privacy Act?
Send FOIA-able information and inform them of what needs further authorization for release.
Where should you check if a request comes from a government office or law enforcement?
Routine Uses in NPRC 1865.16C.

Do media requests count as routine use?
No, they are a non-routine use and only have access to FOIA-able information.
What is an SF 180?
A Request Pertaining to Military Records. Often, this is the form we will review in CMRS when responding to a request.
When copying a record, what equipment should you use?
A flatbed scanner, and NEVER a feeder scanner.
If you are responding to a request requiring an NA Form 13038, and you find a previous NA Form 13038 in their record, what should you do?
Complete a new NA Form 13038 using the most up-to-date information. A previous NA Form 13038 could be incorrect or possess information that has since been updated.
What does WD AGO stand for?
War Department, Army General Order
What form records corrections to DD Form 214 for non-archival records caught by NARA staff?
DD Form 215
What form records corrections or changes requested by a requester? How do you respond to it?
If a requester submits a DD Form 149, refer the request to the applicable service department with the paragraph “Discharge Review” and a copy of the requested record.
Under TEMPORARY Separation Document procedures, what do we send in response to a request?
DD-215, DD-215, NGB-22 and equivalents. Do NOT make an NA 13038 for missing periods of service unless the missing period is essential to meeting the requester’s stated need. Instead, include paragraph from “Missing Period-Temporary Supplemental Response” if the separation documents provided do not address all periods of service.
Where can you find today’s archival date in CMRS?

What does OMPF stand for?

If someone requests their separation documents to access benefits, but they have an Other Than Honorable discharge, is it a fee case?
NO. Under temporary operating procedures due to the COVID-19 backlog, all cases to access benefits are free.
Ideally, how long should it take you to process a single request case?
20 minutes.
How often should you change your password for CMRS?
Every two months.

What does a magnifying glass signify in CMRS?
Queries function. You can initiate a query by clicking on it.
What does an arrow icon signify in CMRS?
Execute query. You can also hit the Return/Enter key on your keyboard.

All MPR Requests.
What three questions are asked in pre-processing?
Who’s asking? What do they want? Can I give it to them?
Where should you look to determine if a request is a FOIA case?
Requester Comments or the SF 180.

Queue #6 will generate a report of the day’s work.

Click on “Refine Query” in the menu.

How do you order a record for an open request in CMRS?
Uncheck/remove checkmark in the search request applet. Return to the Request Information applet and change status. Go to MRP Registry and run a request for the record you want to process.
Which rank/grades can be abbreviated in response forms?
Navy and Coast Guard.
