CMP, electrolytes and such Flashcards
Hypocalcemia
Hypoparathyroidism(if not surgically removed or autoi.)
Vit D Deficiency
Hypercalcemia
Hyperparathyroidism
Malignancy
Low Bicarb
(Lactic acidosis, DKA, poison)= increasing H =MAc
Severe Diarrhea
Decreased secretion of acid by the kidneys
High Bicarb
((vomiting, ng suck) = decrease H= MAk)
Hydrogen moves intracellularly = increases Bicarb
Hypochloremia
Vomiting=decreases H=increases Bicarb=decreases Cl-
)(MAk
Hyperchloremia
Excessive IV Saline
Dehydration from Diarrhea=decrease bicarb=increases Cl-
Hypokalemia
Infectious Diarrhea
Diuretics or Hyper Aldosterone
Hyperkalemia
(excretion in urine= Decreased aldosterone, dehydration, akdckd)
move from intracellular space to extracellular space
Hyponatremia
Fluid overload(HF, Renal Failure, Cirrhosis, aggressive IV fluid. in the old ladies, it is usually a chronic disease or medication they are on that cause this SAIDH
Hypernatremia
Retention of sodium and loss of water(dehydration, Vomiting, burns, diuretic use, diabetes insipidus)
