What is a slipped capital femoral epiphysis?
posterior displacement of the capital femoral epiphysis from the femoral neck through the cartilage growth plate
What are the symptoms of a slipped capital femoral epihpysis?
Causes limp and impaired internal rotation
What is Legg-Calve-Perthes disease
Most commonly affects boys between the ages of 4 and 10.
Involves avascular necrosis of the capital femoral epiphysis.
Typically presents with indolent or chronic pain rather than acute

4 lab tests for evaluation of septic arthritis vs transient synovitis
ESR/CRP
CBC
Blood culture- for potential id of infectious agent
Treatment for transient synovitis?
Rest and ibuprofen
Duration of symptoms of transient synovitis?
3-10 days
Pediatric dosing of ibuprofen?
10mg/kg q6-8 hours PO
max dose: 40mg/kg/24 hours
diagnosis and tx for a slipped femoral head?
AP and lateral x-ray followed up by internal reduction of the femoral head
