2 main classes of anti-cancer agents & their MOA
A
- traditional cytotoxic chemotherapy
MOA: kills any cell that is rapidly dividing - targeted therapy
-monoclonal antibodies bind to a specific antigen [-mab]
-small molecule that inhibits a specific protein (ex. tyrosine kinase inhibitors) [-nib/-mib/-lib]
note - traditional cytotoxic chemo has a worse side effect profile than targeted therapy
