9
Q

Why do you see this rign structure?

A

it is a paddle that can be filled with air and pressed onto the abdomen to flatten the small intestines. that is used in small bowel barium series to provide more detail aobut bowel loops so they are not all bunched together

Q

What is an enteroclysis?

A

similar to the upper GI air contrast series, but in a detailed small bowel series

nasojejunal tube is put in (thin, long), blow up a balloon- fluid contrast with fiber

36
Q

Which MRI is T1? which is T2?

A
37
Q

Why are oral and IV contrast helpful in cases of trauma?

A

IV: allows detection of injuries to solid organs (liver, spleen, pancreas, and kidney)– undetectable w/o contrast

Oral: helpful in confirming or excluding bowel injury and to avoid confusing unopacified bowel with intraperitoneal blood

38
Q
A
39
Q

How can “phases” on CT or MRI help with probem solving?

A

you can look at attenuation with the different phases

cyst/water usualy 1-10 hounsfield units

so, if jump from 33 to 85 when go from no contrast to arterial phase, that tells you there is blood suply to the pouch (probably a tumor) def not a cyst

40
Q

What are possible adverse reactions to IV contrast?

A
  • Idiosyncratic: nausea, vomiting, vasovagal response (pass out)
  • allergic: urticaria, larynospasm, bronchospasm
  • other: renal toxicity, seizures, cardiac arrythmias, adn cardiovascular collapse

42
Q

Identify the indicated features of the image– imaging modality?

A

Way abnormal– should be able to see those ducts

43
Q

The provided image is an example of what type of imaging?

A

CT colonography

drink prep the night before

enema & blow up the colon

take a CT scan
