Step one
Sets taps at correct rate (sufficient to wet and rinse hands)
Step two
Sets taps to correct temperature (warmer than hands)
Step three
Wets hands and wrists thoroughly before applying liquid soap
Step four
Uses sufficient soap and lathers hands and wrists
Step five
Washes palm to palm
Step six
washes dorsum with opposing palm and includes outer aspect of little finger (left to right)
Step seven
Palm to palm with fingers interlaced paying attention to web spaces
Step eight
Backs of fingers in opposing palm (left to right)
Step nine
Thumb in palm including web space (left to right)
Step ten
Tips of fingers in opposing palm for five seconds each hand (left to right)
Step eleven
Washes wrists
Step twelve
Rinses off all visible soap from fingertips to wrists with our touching taps (left to right)
Step thirteen
Spreads fingers and rinses web spaces
Step fourteen
Holds hands higher than elbows when rinsing
Step fifteen
Turns off water using elbows or paper towels
