Describe how to correctly use a glucomete
A
r1. Switch on the glucometer by inserting a test strip with the butterfly on the stip facing up and towards the meter
2. Check the species code on the meter matches the code on the box of strips
3. Obtain a blood sample from the vein or use a lancet to take a sample for the inside of the lip in dogs or from the ear in cats
4. Place one drop of blood onto the upper surface of the strip
5. The meter should beep to show it is working
6. Read glucose result off of the screen
7. Discard the test strip and lancet in clinical waste
