8
Q
What is a EBUS bronchoscopy?
A
- bronchoscope used to view airways and check for any abnormalities
- not under sedation
- fie needle used to take sample of tissue + fluid sample of lungs surroundinglypmh nodes
9
Q
What is an image-guided biopsy?
A
- involves placement of biopsy needle through patient’s skin into an organ of interest using imaging for guidance.
- obtains tissue from patient

Q
Treatment - Chemotherapy of lung cancer
A
- part of radical/palliative treatment
- alone, combined with radiotherapy, adjuvant ( after surgery)
- targeted agents ( tyrosine kinase inhibitors + monoclonal antibodies; erlotinib, getfitinib, crizotinib)
- small cell ( cisplatin/etopside)
- adenocarcinoma ( cisplatin/pemetrexed)
- squamous ( cisplatin/gemcitabine)
