What is clinical communication?
A
Any communication that takes place in a clinical setting to initiate, build and maintain an interpersonal relationship between healthcare professional and patient, HCP and family member or HCP and HCP

What is unconscious bias?
A
Term used to describe the associations that we hold which, despite being outside our conscious awareness, can have a significant influence on our attitudes and behaviour

What is reflective practice?
A
Using past actions and experiences to deepen understanding to inform actions, behaviours and attitudes for future experiences

Gibbs model for reflection
A
- Description (what happened)
- Feelings (what were you thinking and feeling)
- Evaluation (what was good and bad about the experience)
- Analysis (what sense can you make of the situation)
- Conclusion (what else could you have done)
- Action plan (if it arose again, what would you do)
