Clinical 7 Gline Antenatal testing Flashcards
Types of Antenatal Surveillance
NST &CST
Application of Antenatal Surveillance
To identify patients at risk of fetal mortality or morbidity.
To decrease the mortality and morbidity rate.
Reactive NST vs. Non Reactive NST
Reactive Test: 2 accelerations of 15 bpm above baseline lasting 15 seconds each in a 20 minute period.
Nonreactive test:one of the above is lating
Contraction Stress Test
3 contractions lasting 40-60 seconds in a 10 minute period.
Approx the stress a fetus might have in teh 1st stage of labor done when there is no danger of preterm labor, uterine rupture etc.
Components of BPP
NST fetal breathing movements fetal tone fetal movement amniotic fluid volume Max score of 10
Negative CST
no late decels with adequate contractions
Positive CST
Late decels with >50% of the contractions
Suspicious CST
inconsistent late decels <50%
Unsatisfactory CST
Inadequate Uterine Activity
Fetal Breathing Movements
at least 1 episodes of >30 seconds in 30 min period
Gross Body Movements
3 discreet body, limb movements in 30 mintues
Fetal Tone
One episode of active extension with return to flexion of fetal limbs, hands or trunk
NST
Reactive
Amniotic Fluid Volume
At least one pocket of amniotic fluid volume measuring 2 cm in two perpendicular planes
