Traced figure 8 knot
Tie into the climbing harness.
Grapevine knot
Back up to the traced figure 8 knot.
Girth Hitch
Used to attach anchor/rock to the belayer.
Water knot
Used to close webbing while anchoring/rocking.
3 points of contact
The most efficient and safe climbing technique utilizes 3 points of contact to the wall.
Rappelling
Descending a static rope using controlled friction by means of a figure 8 friction device.
Dynamic Rope
A type of rope used when sport climbing (descending) and lead climbing. Stretches considerably and absorbs force of falling climber.
Static Rope
A type of rope used when ascending and rappelling. It doesn’t stretch as mush as dynamic rope.
Traversing
A type of climbing where you move horizontally instead of vertically.
Belayer equipment
Lower harness, tuber, and 2 carabiners.
Climber equipment
Dynamic rope, lower harness, helmet.
Anchor/Rock equipment
Lower harness, webbing, 1 carabiner.
Belaying commands
Belay ON, Climb ON.
Climbing commands
Belay, climbing, climb.
Harnesses…
….should always be double backed.
Visual check
Before giving commands, Mr.Fisher should always check the climber, belayer, and rock.
