What is a Intransitive?
S+V
Subject is performing the action/ doing the verb, but is not acting on anything else (no object)
List 5 examples of intransitive clauses
Anything with S+V
What is a monotransitive?
S V DO
E.g. Tamara / collects / books
Subject is performing the action/ doing the verb, and acting on something/someone else (the direct object)
If a clause pattern is transitive, there will be an object present

What is a copula?
S V SC
E.g. Frogs / are / amphibians/ Frogs are green
In the copula construction, the copula verb links the subject to the subject complement, with the meaning that the subject ‘is’ that thing/ that characteristic
