What are the functions of typical adverbs?
Different functions depending on the kind of adverbs used.
Typical adverbs: express where or when an event is taking place.
(These can modify the clause/sentences)
What are the functions of interrogative adverbs?
interrogative adverbs: question words like where, when and how- double function: can introduce a dependent question/act as a subordinator
What are the functions of other adverbs?
Some adverbs express degree-very and can modify adjectives or adverbs
Sentence/conjunctive adverbs- have meanings similar to coordinate conjuctions and express the logical relationship between main clauses/sentences.
Relative adverb-modifies a clause
Why use adverbs?
