Why does hierarchical classification reduce the validity of the classification system?
Does not take into account co-morbid disease.

GHQ
General Health Questionnaire - screening tool for mental illness in population. 5 Subfactors including (anxiety, sleep, depression, somatic and social). Not psychosis so no use in Schizophrenia.
PSE
Present State Exam - archetypical structured exam for use by trained psychiatrists. Now incorporated into SCAN.
SCID
Structured Clinical Interview for Diagnosis used to make DSM diagnoses.
PANSS
Positive and negative syndrome scale in schizophrenia. Used to assess symptoms, severity and monitor change.
