Classification & Position Flashcards
Classify the Talocrural joint
Synovial, hinge joint - uniaxial with one degree of freedom
mortise & tenon joint
Closed- packed postion of the talocrural joint
Dorsiflexion
Define the subtalar joint and describe its position
- Synovial modified saddle joint
- Combines with midtarsal joint to allow inversion and eversion
- Position; distal to ankle joint
Describe and define the mid-tarsal joint
S shaped - Synovial Ball + socket joint made up of talocalcaneonaviular joint and Calcaneocuboid joint
TCN joint = synovial ball and socket joint
CC joint= synovial plane joint
Intertarsal joints
Synovial plane joints
Tarsometatarsal joints
Synovial plane joints
(bases of MT’s 1,2,3 articulate with med, mid, lat cuneiform and 4+5 articulate with cuboid)
* Intermetatarsal joints are also synovial plane joints
Metatarsophalangeal joints
Synovial ellipsoid joints with 2 degrees of freedom (flex/extend + add/abd)
PIP + DIP (just IP in great toe)
Synovial hinge joints with one degree of freedom
