Classification of skill and goal setting Flashcards
what is a basic skill?
Usually a simple skill that requires not much concentration
What is a complex skill?
A skill that requires a great deal of coordination and concentration
What is an open skill?
A skill that is affected by the environment or your opponent in which performers must adjust to
what is a close skill?
A cloud skill is a skill that is performed the same way each time is affected by the environment
what is the self-paced skill?
A skill that has started when the performer decides to start it
What is an external-paced skill?

Define ability?
And inherited, stable traits that determines an individuals potential to learn or acquire a skill
define trait

what are the two types of goals?
Performance goals
Outcome goals
define outcome goal
An outcome goal is is a go set based on the end result of a performance
What is the performance goal?
A performance goal is a goal that is set in relation to a past performance. A performer or coach may target a specific area.

Measurable
Accepted
Realistic
Time bound
what are the four stages of information processing?
Input
Decision-making
Output
Feedback
Define input
The information received from a performance senses either by site, sound, touch or the intuition
Define decision-making
information that is stored in a performance short-term memory to start with. If the information is rehearsed, it can be stored in the performance long-term memory
define output
The decision is acted upon. Information is sent from the performance brain to the working muscles to carry out a required response.
define feedback
Data is received in response to the output. This can become the input for future decisions, or can be used during future decision-making.
what are the two types of feedback?
Intrinsic and extrinsic
define intrinsic feedback

Define extrinsic feedback
Feedback which is received from outside the performance control, for example from a coach or spectator
