What are the 3 main uses of classification?

A

identify species - by using a clearly defined classification, the species of an organism can be identified easily

predict characteristics - if several members of a groups share characteristics, it is likely another species in the group will have to same characteristics

find evolutionary links - species in same groups probably share a common ancestor
