classical conditioning- lecture 2 Flashcards
what are the three basic techniques for establishing circuitry of the cerebellum
Neuroanatomy- tract tracing: retrograde amnesia, anterograde amnesia.
Electrophysiology- what signals are carried by these connections. Record from individual neurons when animal presented with sensory stimuli (hubel and Wiesel)
Manipulation- removal, inactivation or stimulation.
what is the unconditioned reflex pathway?
cornea- (trigeminal nerve V, cell bodies in Gasserian ganglion)- spinal trigeminal nucleus (oral subdivision)- accessory abducens nucleus- retractor bulbi muscle.
conditioned response circuit
lobule HV1 of the cerebellar cortex inhibits the anterior interpositus nucleus which travels via the red nucleus to the accessory abducens nucleus
evidence for anterior interpositus nucleus
Deep cerebellar nuclei lesions block conditioning, lesions confined to the anterior interpositus nucleus effective.
