- Pps were debreifed at the end, actor met learner and told shocks were not real
- Clinical psychologist was present to end the trial if signs or distress occured to pps

- No significant difference in obedience of women (72.7%) and men (66.7%)
- Empathy did not make a difference, defiant (19.25) and obedient (19.20)
- Defiant (106.92) pps had slightly higher desire to control than obedient (98.24)

- Lack of empathy is not a valid explanation for high obedience rates
- Desire for control does determine the liklihood of obedience
