General characteristics of class trematoda

A
  • Body dorsoventrally flat
  • Cuticle may be smooth or spiny
  • Organs are embedded in the parenchyma
  • Suckers for attachment are present
  • Present alimentary alimentary anal which consists of mouth,pharynx,esophagus, and intestinal ceca; the anus is absent
  • Excretory system consists of flame cells, excretory ducts, and excretory bladder
  • Hermaphroditic except schistosomes ‘which are unisexual’
  • Life cycle may be direct or indirect
