What things should you do to take a shade?

A
  • ask patient to remove lipstick
  • place a light blue or grey bib over the patients clothes
  • select shade at start of appointment
  • remove staining on adjacent tooth
  • get good light - daylight
  • place shade guide at arms length from your eyes
  • place guide along natural dentition

only look for a few seconds to avoid fatigue

  • use correct guide for material
  • check with nurse
