Marbury vs Madison

A

Adams appointed 217 government workers; Jefferson refused to honor them
One was William Marbury; sued Madison for not making good on his hire
Although Marbury’s commission was valid the court could not compel the new President to deliver
Grounds for lawsuit was in conflict with the constitution
