He found that children from Maintown (a white middle-class area where parents had the time to encourage a childs literacy development and provid text books) exelled in school Compared to Traction (black w/c town with a large culture of oral naratives, left children excellent at telling stories but struggling with litteracy) and Roadvile (text books provided but little parental encouragement)
