Circulatory system Flashcards
What is the flow of blood? (Oxygenated blood)
Lungs, Pulmonary Vein, Left Atrium, Left Ventricle, Aorta, Body
What is the flow of blood? (Deoxygenated blood)
Body, Vena Cava, Right Atrium, Right Ventricle, Pulmonary artery, Lungs
Functions of circulatory system.
Pumps blood, Deliver oxygen, nutrients & hormones to all body cells, take away carbon dioxide & spreads heat around the body
What is the heart made out of?
Muscle tissue
Function of arteries.
Carries blood away from heart (oxygenated blood).
Function of Veins.
Carries blood to the heart (deoxygenated blood).
Why is valves important?
It prevents the backflow of blood.
Which side of the heart is thicker and why?
The left side (left ventricle) is thicker than the right because it needs thicker muscles to pump blood to the whole body at high pressure.

How does asthma affect the circulatory system?
Asthma can cause a person to have lower blood oxygen levels. It may not affect the heart at first but will eventually have an impact on it.
