Circulatory System Flashcards
Pericardium
Bag that encloses heart, and holds liquid.
Visceral Pericardium
Inner layer of Pericardium
Parietak Pericardium
Outer layer attached to diaphragm, sternum, vertebrae.
Epicardium
Outer layer of the heart wall. Reduces friction
Myocardium
Middle layer of the heart wall.
Mostly cardiac muscle.
Endocardium
Thin inner lining within chambers of the heart.
Atria
Thin/small upper chambers that receive blood returning to the heart.
Ventricles
Thick muscular lower chambers.
Receive blood from Atria.
Pump blood out of the heart.
Septum
Separates left and right sides of heart.
Tricuspid Vavle
Right atrioventricular valve.
Bicuspid valve/mitral valve
Left atrioventricular valve
Pulmonary valve
From Right ventricle to Pulmonary artery
Aortic valve
From Left ventricle to aorta
Systemic Circulation
Delivers blood to all body cells and carriers away waste
Pulmonary Circulation
Eliminates CO2 and oxygenates blood. (lung pathway)
