Q

How to investigate circular motion

A
  • Swirl a bung in a circle trying to keep the radius of the circle the same
  • Measure the radius of the circle using a metre rule
  • Measure the time for 10 revolutions then calculate the time for 1 revolution
  • Do 3 repeats
  • Vary the suspended mass

Q

Why does the speed of a object remains constant when in circular motion even though there is a resultant force

A
  • The resultant force is acting perpendicularly to velocity

- So there is no work done by the resultant force so velocity remains constant
