Q

What is required for ammeters in order to be in a circuit and work.

A

It has to be connected to the same line, in other words it as to be ‘ IN SERIES ‘

Q

Draw a circuit that has a
1- wire
2- cell
3- bulb
4- resistor
5- ammeter
6- voltemeter

A

Mark accordingly:

1- Wires have to be straight lines drawn using a ruler.

2- Cell has 2 side, long side (positive) and short side ( negative)

3- Bulb is a big circle with an x drawn on it.

4- Resistor is opposite to the cell and is a rectangle with wires connected to both sides

5- Ammeter is a circle with a capital A. It has to be in series meaning in the same line as every other component.

6-Voltemeter is a circle with a capital V. It has to be in parrallel meaning in a different line as every other component

Sorry it is complicated but i don’t know how to add the photo so I just explained how it should look like.

16
Q

How can a battery or cell result in an incomplete circuit

A

Circuits are incomplete when you cannot follow the circuit from one end of the battery, through the different components, to the other end of the battery. If the circuit is incomplete, it won’t work.

17
Q

Draw each of the following

1- open switch
2- closed switch
lamp
resister
cell
motor
wire
buzzer
ammeter
battery
voltemeter

A

( check powerpoint)

18
Q

How can you decrease resistance

A

add an extra branch to the circuit

19
Q

What happens to the current and resistance when you add components

A

Adding components gives more places for current to flow, increasing the total current, and decreasing the total resistance.

20
Q

What happens to p.d and current is series circuit

A

Current: same
P.d: Different

21
Q

What happens to p.d and current is parallel circuit

A

Current: different
P.d: same

22
Q

Draw an example of series circuit

A

All the components are connected to one wire ( one line)

23
Q

How does analogies and models help us

A

Models and analogies help us to think about electric currents in different ways. They help us to “picture” what is going on inside e.g. wires, bulbs and cells/batteries.

23
Q

draw 2 examples of a parallel circuit.

One with a voltemeter and one without

A

2 or more branches, not the same line. Voltemeter in a different line

24
Q

Which side of the battery is positive and which side is negative

A

the positive side of the battery is the longer side and the negative side is the shorter side

25
Q

True or false:

Battery produces the charge

A

False. the charge in already in the wire. The battery just provides in with energy to set the charge in motion

26
Q

Draw a battery

A

It is supposed to be long line, short line, long line then short line.

Not long line, short line, short line, long line

27
Q

How can a closed switch result in an incomplete circuit

A

You need to close the gap and make a complete circuit for a current to flow.

28
Q

What are electrical wires usually made of and why

A

made of metals typically copper because they good insulators of electricity .

29
Q

What happens if a circuit is incomplete?

A

The flow of charge won’t go through every component and go from one end of the battery to another therefore the reciever won’t work.

31
Q

(b) Which part of the circuit supplies the energy?

A

battery/cell

32
Q

what does a circuit need and give examples

A

Electrical source: Battery/cells
Electrical receiver: Bulb, motor, buzzer
Electrical components Wires, switch

33
Q

What are electrcial conductors and give examples of good electrical conductors

A

They let electricity pass through them easily. <any metals such as copper, iron and steel are good electrical conductors.

34
Q

what are electrical insulator and give examples

A

Materials that don’t allow electricity to pass through them such as rubber, plastic and wood.

35
Q

why are electrical insulator used to cover up the wire

A

prevent you from getting an electric shock
