Circuit Construction Flashcards
When cells are connected in series what happens to the potential difference?
It increases
When cells are connected in parallel what happens to the potential difference?
No effect on the potential difference/voltage.
If there are more bulbs in a series circuit, the [. ] the total potential difference.
Greater.
The more cells connected in series, the [. ] the current.
Greater
What is the difference between connecting cells in series and cells in parallel?
- cells in series give a greater/higher current, but run out faster.
- cells in parallel give a lower current (the same current as a single cell) but last longer.
How is an ammeter connected to a circuit?
It is connected in SERIES.
How is a voltmeter connected to a circuit?
It is connected in parallel.
An open circuit means what?
No current is flowing. ~circuit must be closed for current to flow~
