Chtper 4- mitosis Flashcards
Daughter cells
Genetically identical to original cells. Mitosis undergoes and produces two identical cells
Mitosis definition
Mitosis is a process for nuclear division in which replicated material is separated and two new nuclei are formed.
Stages
Interphase Prophase Metaphase Anaphase Telephase
Interphase
Chromosomes are not visible. Not apart of mitosis, where cells spend most of the time in
Prophas
Chromosomes get shortened and thicker, chromosomes are visible. Later, the chromosomes can be seen to be double stranded
Metaphase
Where the chromosomes LINE UP. Chromatids line up, 2 homologous pairs must be apart
Anaphase
Where the chromosomes split up
Telophase
The chromosomes becomes thinner and less obvious. A new nuclear membrane begins to form around each group of chromosomes.
