Preaching the gospels to others with intention of converting them
How do we see God is the creator?
‘In the beginning god created the heavens and the earth’
How do we know god is omnipotent?

God helped the inslaved Jews flee Egypt by sending a series of plagues and parting the red see for the Jews

‘For god so loved the world that he gave his one and only son’

Patrols the earth, gives comfort and courage and guidance, Holy Spirit intervenes in the world in a miraculous way, in baptism it is there,

god said let there be light

Genesis 2 view on creation?
Adam lives in paradise in Garden of Eden, god created companion for him from his rib, this is eve ‘she shall be called woman for she was taken out of man’
God gives Adam + eve command to not eat fruit from tree of knowledge.
What is Genesis 3: The fall?
Adam and eve were tempted by the devil in the form of a serpent to eat the fruit against gods will. He told them the only reason god didnt want him them to eat from the tree of knowledge is because they would be as knowledgeable as god, they can no longer eat from the tree of eternal life so death is created, original sin

What is the idea of incarnation?
‘God made flesh’, god in human form.
His mother Mary was told by an angel that she would give birth to Jesus while being a virgin

Christian views on Crucifixion?
Jewish authorities believed by Jesus saying he was the messiah he was claiming to be king and this was treason.
Christian views on salvation and atonement?
jesus dying on the cross is an act of atonement
some christian believe we are born with sin ‘original sin’
Jesus became the ‘sacrificial lamb’ , he paid the price for humanities sins once and for all

Views on ascension?
some christians believe its a literal meaning and his body moved up to heaven, others interpret it as a metaphorical meaning showing that gods time in human form was up
Views on the bible?
some believe it is the ‘word of god’ and take it literally because it is a divine revelation
other christians believe its an interpretation, written to a specific time and culture and some teachings may need to be adapted to apply to modern society.
so christians take a liberal view, they are symbolic to show us how god would want us to live our lives
Christian views on original sin?
we have a tendency to disobey God.
Original sin was a result of the fall (adam and eve)
this separates human from God
some believe its unfair for god to punish whole of humankind for 1 mans sin
modern christians: useful way to understand humans are prone to going against God
views on sin and salvation?
Jesus paid the ransom for human sin, allowing humans to be saved
How do Christians achieve salvation?
Catholics: taking part in the sacrament they can achieve salvation and go to heaven, baptism washes them clean of sin, can confess
Protestants: must have faith in Jesus and repent their sins to achieve salvation
What is the Grace and the spirit?
For Christians to have a good life God sends the holy spirit to bring grace. Can pray for help from God, appears to the disciples after Jesus ascension to heaven, ‘began to speak in other tongues as the spirit enabled them’
Holy spirit can ‘faith heal’
Evangelical worship- Holy spirit can move us to speak
Eschatological beliefs on the after life?
Life beyond death is at the centre of christianity.
What are the Gospel of John?
last gospel to be written, ‘eschatological gospel’, frequent references to the afterlife, Jesus raises a man called Lazarus from the dead, this shows a miracle
Christian views on judgment?
There will be a Judegment Day, Jesus will return to earth in a ‘second coming’
mark the end of human existence on earth,
Apostles creed- ‘god shall come to judge the living and the dead’
people will be bodily resurrected on this day, world will be purified of sin
What’s the parable of Lazarus and the rich man?
Rich man, lived in luxery, had poor man Lazarus living outside in poverty, when he died the angels took him to heaven with Abraham but the rich man was taken to Hades, rich man asked Lazarus to warn his family to not be selfish or they will end up in hell, Abraham said Moses and the prophets have already been sent so they should know to listen to them
Christian views on Resurrection?
Our soul can join God in heaven, at the end of time there will be a physical resurrection,
people brought back to life in physical bodies like Jesus was, stated in the creeds, trumpet will sound and the dead will rise
Christian views on heaven and hell?
not many descriptions of heaven, god and angels are in heaven some believe, some thing heaven is physical, others believe it exists in a spiritual dimension, hell is a place of suffering, physical place where we burn eternally, others believe its a spiritual dimension, most believe its where real torment is, separation from god
Traditional views about heaven and hell?
Heaven and hell were thought of a real place
hell was underground and heaven was in the sky
What is Purgatory?
Catholic view, many people die but cant gain immediate entry to heaven because they are stained bysin, process of cleaning at purgatory, temporary state of being
