a plate is coated with a solid and a solvent moves up the plate
What is column chromatography?
a column is packed with a solid and a solvent moves down the column
What is gas chromatography?
a column is packed with a solid or with a solid coated by a liquid, and a gas is passed through the column under pressure at high temperature.
How to calculate the Rf value?
How can gas chromatography and mass spec be used together?
GC can separate the mixture and then feed through a mass spec (instead of a detector)
mass spec can identify unknown compounds and they are compared with a library of spectra stored on a computer.
GC-MS is an efficient process.
