ironic- not a helpful person,
selfish.
Scrooge: example of portmanteau: screw & gouge.
screw- tight. nickname for prison
guard.
gouge: violent.

scrooges room was presented as dark, lonely, unkept whereas Tim’s was presented as cheerful, brightly lit, well kept.
- ‘the room was very dark, too dark.’
