A type of prayer with no fixed nature, i.e. charismatic worship (consisting of clapping, speaking in tongues, etc.)

What is the Eucharist?
The celebration of Jesus’ sacrifice through his death and resurrection by taking bread and wine
What are 2 different beliefs about the Eucharist?
Catholics believe it is literally Jesus’ body and blood, whereas Protestants believe it is symbolic
What is the importance of the Eucharist?
Remembers the Last Supper, brings the Christian community together in worship and is a sacrament
Give 3 reasons as to why the Eucharist is seen as the most important celebration?
A memorial of Jesus death and without it, there would be no salvation, it brings people closer to Jesus as he is the living bread and it brings people together as an act of fellowship (‘where 2 or 3 are gathered…’)

Quakers do not celebrate it, so it cannot be the most important, Parable of the Sheep and the Goats (‘faith without works is dead’) and God commanded baptismW

Atonement, without Jesus death, there is no salvation and allows you to give thanks

Unites community, provides comfort and support and gives identity and belonging to people

Donate to charity who organise food banks, work as volunteers and distribute food donated through church

The duty of Christians to spread the Gospel
What is evangelism?
Preaching the Gospel to convert people to the Christian faith
What is ecumenism?
Promoting unity among the world’s Christian churches
Why do Christians use liturgical worship?
To receive forgiveness from God and to receive the presence of the Holy Spirit
Why do Christians use non-liturgical worship?
To receive a personal revelation for God
What is the significance of private worship?
It helps Christians build up discipline giving them strength to cope in tough times and helps them find peace, as well as a sense of communion with God
What is the importance of the Lord’s Prayer?
It reminds others to forgive and reminds them that God is the father of all, not themselves
What are sacraments?
Holy rituals that outwardly express an inner, spiritual experience
How do sacraments help Christians?
It helps them strengthen their relationship with God and affirms that they are part of God’s family and body
What are different ways the eucharist is celebrated?
Orthodox sing hymns and the bread is divided into 4. Catholics state many prayers, but it begins with the priest greeting them.
What do street pastors do?
They preach, but also provide support, for example listening to people’s questions
How do Christians respond to persecution?
They develop their faith and they believe they share experiences with Jesus
How do Christians support the persecuted?
They campaign on behalf of them, for example, smuggle Bibles into the USSR
Why should Christians respond to the problem of world poverty?
Because of the Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus; because Jesus helped the poor

They help to increase access to clean water, education and healthcare
What does Tearfund do?
Work with churches to end hunger
What does Christian Aid do?
They encourage sustainability, and end poverty
How does the worldwide church work for reconciliation?
They aim to follow Jesus’ example of restoring relationship between God and man, for example Desmond Tutu tried to restore black and white communities. They try and make things better after wars and fights like restoring food supplies
How may Christians show their commitment to Church growth?
Training new converts in the way of following Christ and join Church Army to find faith

Food banks to be compassionate towards the needy and street pastors
