Q

Tire checks

A

Type: don’t mix radial and bias-ply, same size and weight ratings based on gross axle weight
Condition: tread depth, tread separation, cupping, excessive wear on sidewalls, cuts, dry rot, cracks, impalements
Inflation: per sidewall/mfg. Max pressure on sidewall is not operating pressure.

17
Q

NFPA 1911 requires tires replaced 7 years, regardless

A

Note

18
Q

Load mgt system

A

Electrical monitoring system that shed electrical load in a predetermined order if the chassis voltage begins to drop below a level

19
Q

Overload

A

Operating something above its ampacity; over time may overheat and damage equipment

20
Q

Load sequencer

A

Turns lights on at intervals to disperse start up load

21
Q

Load Monitor

A

Watches system for additional loads that may threaten system

22
Q

Load shedding

A

At overload, starts dropping less important electrical equipment

23
Q

Manual shift transmission

A

Part of poer train that turns torque from engine to rotation to wheels. Disengages trany to allow start, stop and changing gears

24
Q

Throw out bearing

A

Pushes internal clutch fingers to pedal. Not enough play wears out, too much doesn’t fully release trans

25
Q

Steering wheel play

A

No more than 10 degrees (2” for 20” steering wheel)

26
Q

Curb weight

A

Weight off the assembly line, no tools etc

27
Q

Gross vehicle weight

A

Max weight you can operate safely in ideal conditions

Side to side variance from overload should not be >7%

28
Q

Two categories of preventative maintenance

A

Apparatus and pump

29
Q

20’ stopping distance

A

35’

30
Q

Air tank alarms

A

Horn stops working at 80
Alarm at 60
Spring brake at 20-45

31
Q

Park can hold on

A

20% grade

32
Q

Dual braking system

A

Primary: service brakes in rear

Secondary is front brake

33
Q

Batter check

A

Date stamp and inspection eye for maint free
