Deception

2 Criticisms
1) SP only describes what is common sense
2) SP is dangerous because it can be used to manipulate people

integrated set of principles that explain and predict observed events
Hypothesis
testable proposition that describes a relationship that may exist between events

want a representative sample to describe a population
Rule of 1200
1200 randomly selected participants will enable us to be 95% confident of describing the entire population with a margin of error of + or - 3% points
