Chloroplast Flashcards
1
Q
What are the functions of chloroplasts?
A
Chloroplasts use TOC and TIC. After the chloroplast sequence
2
Q
How many ways are there to insert into the thylakoid, and what are they?
A
There are four ways:
1) Sec pathway
2) SRP-like pathways
(both 1 and 2 utilizing ATP electrogradient)
3) TAT pathway (utilizing a Hydrogen Gradient)
4) Spontaneous entry.
3
Q
Describe the SRP-like pathway for thylakoid insertion.
A
Within the stroma, it uses Chloroplast SRP to bind to Chloroplast SRP receptor and inserts into the thylakoid lumen.
4
Q
What is the pH pathway for thylakoid insertion?
A
Within the stroma, it uses bound metal ions and enters the thylakoid lumen.
