Q

Troxel v Granville

A

SCOTUS held it was impermissible for the trial court’s refusal to give any deference to mother’s desire to avoid visitation with grandparents

Related to a WA state statute that allowed any 3rd party to try to get visitation rights
- it’s a constitutional right of parents to direct the upbringing of their children
- woman did not have to allow her children to visit with grandparents if she didn’t want them to
- didn’t strike down the statute tho
