What is crystals theory?
A
There are five stages of development:
- stage one where they make basic statements such as ‘daddy’s car.’
- stage two where they ask questions (usually in two word stage)
- stage three where they ask loads of different questions but in a specific tone (phonological improvement)
- stage four where they use complex sentence structures
- stage five is all practices above and being able to apply them to give and receive information.

What is Nelson’s theory?
A
That children say things according to the situation in these 4 ways:
- naming things (mum, dad, cat, dog)
- actions/events (give, throw, stop.)
- social (hi, bye, yes no.)
- modification (dirty, clean.)

What is Brown’s theory?
A
That children from different countries still make the same grammatical mistakes/relations in the two-word stage.
