What is crystals theory?

A

There are five stages of development:

  • stage one where they make basic statements such as ‘daddy’s car.’
  • stage two where they ask questions (usually in two word stage)
  • stage three where they ask loads of different questions but in a specific tone (phonological improvement)
  • stage four where they use complex sentence structures
  • stage five is all practices above and being able to apply them to give and receive information.

What is Nelson’s theory?

A

That children say things according to the situation in these 4 ways:

  • naming things (mum, dad, cat, dog)
  • actions/events (give, throw, stop.)
  • social (hi, bye, yes no.)
  • modification (dirty, clean.)

A
