Chi Squared Flashcards
1
Q
Chi Square
A
- Nominal or Ordinal Scale (Yes/No, Pathology/No Pathology)
- Determines difference between observed and expected proportions seen in categories (Ex: Expected Fall or No Fall = 50%, Observed 20%.
2
Q
Two General Assumptions - Chi Squared
A
- Frequencies represent original counts, data is actual number of people, objects or events and is not a summary statistics
- Categories are exhaustive and mutually exclusive (Fit into one category); Ex: 4 categories, they all fit in one of the four.
3
Q
Chi Square is useful for:
A
- Seeing proportions of males and females assigned to groups when proportional
- Age groups were represented in experimental groups
4
Q
Not useful for:
A
- Not as an alternative for more precise tests
- Nominal data
- Studies with a small n (less than 10)
